Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru: Nansi cast announcement A new play by Angharad Price that tells the story, to the sound of the harp, of Nansi Richards’ enchanting life

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is proud to present the cast of Nansi, the company’s main production at the Montgomeryshire and the Marches National Eisteddfod this year.

Melangell Dolma (Nansi) and Gwyn Vaughan Jones will be joining Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru for the first time, and Siw Hughes, Carwyn Jones who have all worked for the company in the past, will complete the cast.

Angharad Price has written this new drama based on the colourful life of Nansi Richards, a harpist from Montgomeryshire. Carl Davies is the Designer and Dyfan Jones is the Sound Designer and Composer.

Director, Sarah Bickerton, who originally hails from Maldwyn said;

“I’m pleased that Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru is staging a drama based on the life of Nansi Richards in the area of the National Eisteddfod this year. As someone who is originally from the area and related to Nansi, I have been intrigued by her extraordinary life and the stories that exist about her since I was a little girl. Angharad Price has created a script that brings young Nansi’s story to life – there is fun and adventure but also the exploration of a young girl’s battle to become an artist in her own right. We are looking forward now to start rehearsing!”

Nansi will be performed in the Llanfair Caereinion Institute Monday evening (3rd of August) until Friday evening (7th of August) during the Eisteddfod week. A free bus will be available for the Eisteddfod’s audience. Tickets are for sale through the National Eisteddfod – www.eisteddfod.org.uk / 0845 4090 900.
