Ian Rowlands scoops major Arts Council creative wales award

“New York Residency”
Ian has been, in turn, the Artistic Director of Bara Caws, Cwmni Theatr Gwynedd and Llwyfan Gogledd Cymru. He recently took leave of his directorial responsibilities to pursue his first love, writing. His recent plays include Butterfly, Mor Tawel/Pacific and Blue Heron in the Womb. The acclaimed play, Blink, is currently being produced by the Torch Theatre and will be staged in New York in 2008.
Ian’s Creative Wales Award will allow him to embark on a New York residency during which he will develop a new performance text. He will also research comparative dramaturgical processes and assess the potential of cross-cultural equivalences and parallels in respect of his own work. |
