Helen has vast experience in both 'straight' and more experimental theatre forms. A BA Hons European Theatre Arts degree gained in 2004 from Rose Bruford College, London has given Helen a wide experience of different performance disciplines including the work of LeCoq, Grotowski and Tadeusz Kantor. Two years Contemporary dance training and many more years of other dance forms sway this performer towards movement focused, physical and dance-theatre forms, inspired by the work of Bausch and the studies of Laban, which she explored and turned slightly on their head for her piece 'Dolly, dolly', a dance theatre piece merging german expressionist text with inversions of Laban's 'efforts' layered with tap and modern dance to create a trio of human puppets/dolls. Helen hopes to work within a variety of different theatrical fields, creating and performing; she is particularly interested in those projects with a Welsh focus, reflected in her degree research in notions of Welsh identity within non-verbal performance. |
