George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling Research Lectures 2006 |
The George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling concludes its first year of research seminars this June with a lecture by acclaimed storyteller Dr Vayu Naidu. The lecture takes place on Wednesday 14th June at 5pm at the LRC on the Glamorgan University Campus in Trefforest. See Wha’ I’m Sayin’? explores the work that the Vayu Naidu Company have been carrying out in a variety of contexts, including work with survivors of the tsunami. Vayu Naidu is a performance storyteller deriving her inspiration and narratives from diverse encounters with geographies, cultures, conflicts, and performing art forms. The Vayu Naidu Company is founded on the basis of two parallel streams: storytelling as new work with British composers and world musicians; and new writing for theatre and broadcast, as well as adaptations of world classics featuring a strong storytelling device concerning diaspora. The George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling is the only academic storytelling research centre in the UK. The centre is dedicated to promoting, developing and researching storytelling in all its forms. The centre consolidates and builds upon the University of Glamorgan’s existing strengths in storytelling. The centre collaborates with storytellers, artists and people in the creative and cultural industries as well as supporting those people who use storytelling in community and education settings.
