![]() The company’s new musical for families, Melangell/The Princess and The Hunter, is currently touring theatres across Wales along side their project Beyond Words, which is currently touring secondary schools in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend finishing on 9th March. In addition to these two productions, the company have been awarded over £7,000 from the Home Front Recall Big Lottery Fund to restage their autumn World War II production for Primary Schools, Halt! Who Goes There? at Pyle Life Centre this month to commemorate the 60th anniversary of World War II. Melangell/The Princess and The Hunter opened at Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon on 17th February and is receiving fantastic reviews and responses from all who see it. Featuring eight actor/musicians live on stage this new musical will have you singing the songs all the way home! A full tour list is available on the company’s website www.theatr-nanog.co.uk Halt! Who Goes There? is set on and around the night of 10th–11th March 1945, when 70 German POWs tunnelled to freedom from Camp 198 in Bridgend. It was the biggest escape attempt made by German POWs during the Second World War and many were recaptured thanks to the support of the local community. The grant from the Lottery will be used to stage two special performances for local schools and Senior Citizens groups on the 60th Anniversary of the escape attempt from Camp Island Farm in Bridgend during World War II. The company will also be holding two performances for the general public at 7pm on 10th & 11th March. Tickets can be purchased from Theatr na n’Og on 01639 641771 priced at £3 for adults and £2.50 for children. There is also family ticket available at £10 for two adults and two children. The company are now taking bookings for their production for children aged 5-7, Me, A Giant! written by Roger Williams, which will be touring Infants Schools in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend from April to July this year. Me, A Giant! is a re-working of the well-known story of Jack & The Beanstalk and explores the themes of friendship and first impressions.
