CPR continues its highly successful series of international workshops in CROSS-CURRENTS, Spring 2005. If you are a professional performer or singer, an experienced enthusiast or simply curious and keen to explore your creativity in performance, this programme of workshops offers many opportunities to learn new skills from some of the best practitioners working in the world today. Develop new skills or practice existing ones in voice, movement, theatre and performance, and those working in a health or social services setting might be especially interested in Theatre Nomad’s workshop looking at loss and bereavement. Take part across Wales and challenge yourself! At Powys Dance in Llandrindod Wells, on February 19th – 20th, we have a MOVEMENT / VOICE WORKSHOP with SILKE MANSHOLT in which participants will be guided to create short solo performances and encouraged to use meditation, shamanic practices, expressionistic movement, and work with sound and music as inspiration. On February 26th – 27th, EMMA HARRIS is leading a GOSPEL AND FREE IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP at the University of Wales, Bangor, a harmony singing workshop emphasising enjoyment and community. LUKE DIXON of THEATRE NOMAD is leading a LOSS AND BEREAVEMENT THEATRE WORKSHOP in Aberystwyth on March 5th – 6th, looking at how theatre skills can explore loss and bereavement, based on a pioneering programme developed at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. There is a CONTACT IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP led by MATILDA LEYSER on March 19th – 20th, which will be held at the Swansea Institute, in partnership with Volcano Theatre Co. The workshop is suitable for anyone who likes to move, it can be equally accessible and challenging to those with no previous movement experience as it can to the experienced dancer. For anyone who requires further information about any of the weekends, CPR can send a list of B&Bs and budget accommodation options. The brochure outlining full details of all the workshops and other events that form part of CROSS-CURRENTS is available from CPR – Tel: 01970 622133, E-mail: cprwww@aber.ac.uk, or visit the CPR website at www.thecpr.org.uk.
