The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation issued updated application guidelines in May. Rather than a total overhaul, they have only made a few small changes to the existing guidelines. In 2004 the foundation expects to make grants of £26 million across the UK, as well as making loans and undertaking initiatives. Support covers four main areas; Arts and Heritage, Education, Environment, and Social Development. They do not award grants to individual artists, but do aim to assist performing and visual arts provision in parts of the UK less well served than others.
