![]() We have been accepted onto the BBC2 Restoration programme, where viewers can vote to save one of 21 historic buildings at risk in the UK. The Welsh regional programme will be shown sometime in July and we need to raise the profile of this building in order to secure as many votes as possible to enable us to go through to the final in August. The theme for our campaign is courage, community spirit and commitment. We are honouring the courage of the ten miners, who took out a mortgage in 1898 for £6,222 on salaries of less than £3 per week, to build the Institute for the social and educational benefit of the whole community. To our knowledge this is the only Institute financed in this way. We think it was an audacious act and incredibly brave and filled with community spirit. They then built the Memorial Hall in 1924 to commemorate the men, who served in the Great War-1914 ? 1918, 75 of whom never returned home. We cannot and will not forget their courage and sacrifice. Now it is up to us to summon our own community spirit and courage to fight to save the Memo. We are certainly committed to the cause whatever the outcome of the Restoration Programme. Could you help us by providing a link to our webside on yours and/or mentioning us on your site throughout July and August. We would then provide a link to your website on our. We would also be grateful if you could ask your friends and family to vote for us in July (dates not yet confirmed but Welsh regional programme should go out in week commencing 19th July).
